| It is extremely difficult for me to be in this position. I was able to play the game just long enough to get hooked. I cannot connect anymore to any server.
There are two types of connection issues out there with this game. One, some people cannot connect to EA. Others can connect to EA, but not the servers. I am in the latter. There are hundreds of people out there in the same boat as me. Some people went and bought the game, but have never been able to play online. Single player is the only thing they can play.
This morning (2/26), I went to my firewall and forwarded all the ports for the game and that wasn't good enough. But yesterday, for the first time ever, I was able to see pages and pages of servers. This was using the search function, not typing in *S. Usually ours is the only one I've been able to see. I've been trying to think when the very first time it was that I couldn't connect. I think it was when the server crashed. After that I had a problem.
Yesterday (2/26), I went into the support folder which is found in the game folder. Through that I clicked on connection issues and downloaded something called UOTrace. I punched in the server ip and was able to watch it go to the different servers and also to watch ping and packets. The unknown server that I had to go through just before the first server in DFW, I had 100% packet loss. Ping jumped to 156ms. I thought aha!! But then later I saw the server list and I saw one in Seattle. My ping was 19ms. I attempted to join but couldn't. On Monday I'm going to call Comcast because this sounds like their issue.
I also have not uninstalled and reinstalled. It hasn't helped others so I'm not going to do this until I hear what Comcast suggests.
Program files, Electronic Arts, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Support, EA Help, en-us, Click on Online Connectivity and Performance, Start Online Connectivity and Performance Troubleshooting.
Click on How to Use UO Trace. In the first line there is a click here. Left click it. Read the rest of the instructions because it tells you what to do when you run this UO Trace.

| ok bro before we go through all of this what is your os??? windows seven??? if it is win7 then here is what you need to try it may not have permission to get through.... and also in the firewall setting make sure all related files have total access ...... then go into your router and connect to its firewall and forward ports from there......... and finally just right click the game icon before you start the game with admin permissions.... lol click run as admin then let me know what you see and we will go from there.. | |

| I have Win Vista Home. I also have software firewall.
This is what I have done since. I went to my game folder and created another shortcut, clicked on Advanced under Properties and clicked on Administrator. Now I can start game as as an admin. My other shortcut didn't have that option, it wasn't highlighted.
I went into my cmd under run, and ping'd my default gateway = 20ms, ping'd google.com = 17ms, and ping'd the Conquest server = 72ms.
What I need to do is to disable my firewall and run the updater, and call Comcast and make sure my connection is good. I do not like talking to Comcast, but sometimes you can link up with someone who knows their stuff. There are a lot of issues concerning connections on EA's Forums. This stuff I did above I got from there. I'm not done with this. I've never had connection issues with any of EA's games before.

| Nothing wrong with my connection.
I'm just going to join the hundred's of others who cannot connect to BC2 or the Vietnam side as well.
However, I can join Medal of Honor servers and will be playing over there instead. I'm also done with with topic. | |

| Just to point out, DICE does both of the multiplayers. E.g. medal of honor and BC2 So the the scripts and servers and native I.P.'s are probably quite close! I will look into your problem for you, despite you giving up | |

| Hey Hurley, good to hear from you. I have been in a server for Medal of Honor. However just because I've been in a server doesn't mean I will always be allowed to get in, which is what happened on BC2.
Thanks for looking into this.
