Lets Go Racing!!

Like most of you, I enjoy the thrill of a close race. I also enjoy some "silly" racing, think adult mario-kart??

I'm looking to organize some community racing but to start we should all settle on what game to play.

Here are my recommendations:

1. Trackmania Nations.

A Free Game that while being about 3 years old, looks and runs FANTASTIC. Loops/helixis and a great physics engine, this game will test who can be the fastest through a course. Course can be made by the community so they get crazy.

2. TrackMania 2 Canyon.

This game is almost a year old. TM2 builds on everything that was great with the original. The physics/graphics are enhanced, track editor has been upgraded for even crazier tracks from the community. In my opinion TM2 is worth every Penny. The creators knew they would have to make a compelling argument to drag it's fans away from its successful/addictive free original. And they nailed it.

Why TrackMania you maybe asking yourself?? Because our community can have races that last a week. Whoever gets the checkered flag fastest during that week's particular "race" or challenge will be the race winner. This will allow all of us to play the game when we have time, practice the track, and improve our time during the "race's" time frame.


Also when we all get together we host "live" competitions, level the playing field, and play on tracks that no one has ever played on before. Who ever has the best time in 8 minutes which is the typical track rotation time on servers, is the winner.
(Track Lengths in both games vary from 10 to 55 seconds in length)


The game's track editor is very a powerful and easy tool. Think RollerCoaster Tycoon with race cars.

The Social part of the game is also very well constructed. Easy for us all to be friends, check scores, crown winners, and be competitive.


Lets get some feedback, decide how many people would like to spend 20 bucks and enhance their life. I highly recommend TrackMania 2.

Hey Duff,
Count me in. BONUS, it's a free game that everyone can play! I currently have Dirt2, Dirt3, and Grid. But, I am open to other racing games, preferrably with steering wheel support. This is definately something the community could have fun with. I'll be downloading this one.

I wouldn't recommend a wheel. I play with a controller and it's very difficult. Oddly this game is truly fun with the arrow keys. Download the original and give it a try.
