"Firstly, I’d like to make it clear that DiRT Showdown is not DiRT 4. I realise that some of our fans may feel that we’re straying from the core of the previous games in the series. However, it’s obvious that those games were offering two experiences. One was aimed at representing more serious motorsport competition, whereas the other aimed to provide a good amount of variety with some less serious modes. Our goal is for DiRT Showdown to provide a compelling and engaging action sports experience that existing fans will enjoy. It’s fair to say though that DiRT 4 is likely to offer a more focused experience that represents the other side of the series."
