| Ok so I cannot play BF3 and I am done trying till I am able to upgrade my system. My FPS drops as low as 19 and maxes out at 30 . As most of you may know I have only worked like 5 months this past year due to the fact that there is no work in rural Arkansas. I need recomendations for a mainboard cpu and memory. Im looking to sell off some of my Collection to finance this upgrade. I need to stay as cheap as possible. Thanks and I hope to see you on the Battlefield again sometimes soon.

| I USED to be always on top of it all because I used to have to work on several gaming PC's for my local friends however, I am no longer in the infinite loop as I used to be. Im in the search now myself.
I DO feel your pain, I cannot really play BF3 either.. I play on the lowest settings and it's somewhat of a slide show especially when over 50 players on a server. hopefully the RAM you are sending me Iron will help my situation. If itt doesn't, I am thinking about taking my video card back and buying this barebones kit or something similar..Of course I wouldn't be using the power supply from it except for a second PC

| Depending on what mob you have you might can just upgrade your cpu. which would be great and cheaper. The downside is the bottle neck with ddr2 memmory vs. DDR3. | |

| my installation of Windows 7 home premium 64 bit OEM was very painless.. i put the disk in, told it where i wanted to install and let it do its thing, pretty much the same with Vista 64 bit too, we have come along way from windows 95 and a stack of floppies. the only thing i would suggest is if you are running a single HS, partition it and put just windows on one partition and games on the 2nd, if running 2 HDs, windows on one, games on the other | |

You are not going to give up gaming Ironman. It is easy to fall into that way of thinking when the chips are down. At least you have something to work with. I will game again. When? I do not know. Everyone might be a General by the time I do. You have other games you can play on your computer till something positive happens for you so you can play BF3. You know I'm right. Stew

| Man that sucks Ironman. I know the feeling. PCs can be frustrating. I've thought about going over to the darkside (PS3). But then I think about the comeraderie <sp?> I would miss out on with this group. I enjoy jumping into TS and talking about computers, gaming, etc. as much as I enjoy the actual gaming (sometimes more). - CroolTool wrote:

Crool, Glad to hear Windows 7 is fairly simple to install. I had a few drinks last Friday night and went ahead and installed my new motherboard, cpu, and RAM. The parts had been sitting on my desk for several days and I couldn't wait anylonger (I also couldn't see that straight...bad combo). I had been told I would have to reinstall Windows so I was prepared (NOT!). Apparently when you buy an HP the Windows restore will only work with your current MB. What a nice suprise. I should get my OEM copy of Windows 7 Home Premium tomorrow or the next day. I could have reinstalled my old hardware but I would have had to reinstall my games and everything so I'm just waiting. I can't wait to play Karkand etc. Will the Windows disk give me the option to format my disk and do a clean install? Also will the windows disk have the option to partion my HD at the time of install?

My AMD Athlon II 630 seemed fine with stock cooling. I didn't actually monitor the temperature though. I wondered the same thing. My new FX-6100 came with the smallest fan I've seen on any of my processors. Maybe it is a cooler CPU since it uses less power than the Phenom.

| yes the OEM disk will allow you to format or repartition or all of the above
BTW the first thing i do when i get a premade puter such as a laptop or cheap desktop is format and install an OEM version from newegg or fry's without all the bloatware that comes with HP or Dells versions of Windows

| Ironman, that monitor on Newegg is 149.99 with FREE shipping, not sure the shipping from TD would be less then 10 bucks but might be something to look at, speacially if you are thinking about going the newegg route as suggested by Bigtime another factor with newegg.. you will get it quicker | |
