| Subject: Server host upgrade maintenance 7-18-2011 Sat Jul 16, 2011 2:24 pm | |
| | From NFO:
Between 4am and 6am CDT on Monday, July 18, we'll be upgrading our connection to InterNAP in Dallas to 10 Gbps, up from its current 1 Gbps. This maintenance requires that on-site staff briefly take our switching equipment offline in order to replace it with a differently-configured unit, then that we have InterNAP change over from the current circuit to the new one. Finally, we'll be running tests to make sure that the new link is stable and loss-free. As a result of the work, you should see a one or two periods of connection loss for your service, each lasting approximately 5-15 minutes.
This upgrade will provide us with more room for future expansion and allow us to better weather DDoS attacks. After Monday, any attack between 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps will affect only customers on the single machine being hit, and not all servers at the location. Potentially, we will also be able to add a DDoS-mitigation layer on our end later on, allowing us to further filter attacks.
If the timeframe of this maintenance will not work for you, please contact us ASAP, and we can make arrangements to accomodate you with a temporary service at another location until it is complete. |
