BF3 version R24 (951336) was released this morning in coordination with a long Blaze/Battlelog maintenance, scheduled to run from 7am through noon PDT. We have applied this to your server.

Update 6/4 @ noon PDT: Battlelog is reporting that the EA/DICE maintenance may continue through 1:30pm PDT. Also, if you saw Events posts earlier today about your server being offline or being repaired, please ignore these, as they occurred because of the Blaze downtime.


Queuing bugs in R24

BF3 version R24 re-introduced server-side player queuing, making it so that players can wait to join a full server, and so that reserved-slot-holders and Premium players can receive priority in that line. However, this queuing system has a major bug: Players who join a server from the queue are not shown as having a GUID in the server, once inside. This is breaking the game's banning system, along with many 3rd party admin and stats systems.

The system also has another bug that was previously seen when DICE was testing it before (months ago), in that servers sometimes show as being full in Battlelog when they are not. That bug can be made worse by auto-player-limit adjusters, so we recommend turning those off temporarily.

We have asked DICE if the queue can be disabled for the time being, and they have told us that no RSP is allowed to do so at this time. As a workaround for the banning problem, we are advising that customers ban disruptive players by IP address through the rcon tool, block their IPs through the Firewall page, or repeatedly kick them until they stop joining.

DICE is working hard on fixes for the queuing bugs and says they should be ready for R25 or R26.

(Also, we've now added a reserved slots list box to our "Easy setup" page, along with the Premium-only option and the option for "Aggressive join".)




Upcoming R25 rollout

DICE has released BF3 server version R25 (951364), which includes the new Close Quarters maps (though they can't be played yet, since no client will have access to them until Tuesday). It does not include any bugfixes or other adjustments.

Like R24, this new version can't be gradually rolled out, so we will need to apply it to all servers at once. We are scheduling this to occur on Monday, June 11, starting at around 4am PDT (6am CDT, 7am EDT); during that hour, you should see your server go offline, then come back up as R25. Later that day, we will be also rolling out control panel and admin daemon updates to support the new Close Quarters maps.




R25 follow-up and R26 rollout

We found this morning that only about half of our machines downloaded R25 successfully, causing it to not be properly rolled out to all servers. We have manually corrected this now by re-rolling it out to those machines.

DICE has also just released BF3 server version R26 (964189), which is said to fix the missing-GUID problem for those joining from queue. We are going to pre-upload this to our machines and set it for a 12:30am PDT rollout on 6/12.

Update @ 3:39pm PDT on 6/11: Changed the rollout time to 12:30am PDT due to the potential release of Close Quarters to clients early in the morning.
