PostSubject: CPU Fan issues   Fri May 25, 2012 5:02 pm

I need some help, i just went to turn my new rig on to finish loading up all of the programs i need and i got a CPU Fan error. I just used it earlier prob a half hour before hand and i only powered it down to do hook everything back up like monitor and the other little odds and ends stuff. I just hope that my mobo cpu fan header isn't shot, if someone could help me figure this out quick please. This way i'll know right away if i have to spring for a new cpu cooler. It's a stock intel cpu cooler btw.

I've found a video of what it is exactly doing, keep in mind it is not mine but it's doing it exactly.

if the problem turns out to be the fan itself which i believe it is, what would you guys suggest a good replacement fan?

Thanks,

Doc

Sorry to hear about this Sad

I hope it is just the cooler. Did you try plugging the cooler into a different fan header?
Try that first & if it is the cooler, I have a Hyper 212 here used for a short time before I switched to water cooling & it cools great.

If you are interested let me know & I could probably let you have it for a donation to our wonderful community Very Happy

Yes i tried all three of the possible spots to plug the fan in and it worked for a few seconds on the Cha fan 3 slot but the rpms were way to slow. I hope it's not the mobo, thank you for the offer, i have a replacement fan on the way. Thanks to the great customer service people at amazon. I'll just have to wait till tuesday which sucks but hey it's better than sending back the entire mobo.

Thanks

Doc

UPDATE: I went to bestbuy today and picked up a really small cheap fan with a 3 pin fan header and tested it out and it fired right up no problem so now I'm convinced it was indeed just the fan so knock on wood from here on out.
